Around Our Table

Eudald Massana Noya Cava Brut Nature NV Penedes, Spain
Finding organic production within a Cava DO is not exactly easy. Cellar Eudald Massana is one of those few that get imported here to CT. This third generation family grower does everything right to produce this sparkler with a balance of toastiness and citrus. Second fermentation takes place in the bottle and aged for 14 months. Food Pairing - Fried Chicken (or really anything fried)

Iovine Campania Falanghina 2022 Campania, Italy
This checks every box for us ; high elevation vineyard, 30 year old vines, and under 10k case production each year. 100% Falanghina from Campania that has a nose bursting with tart lemon and tropical citrus. Steely acid and fresh white peaches dominate the palate and make this a perfect early fall white. Food Pairing - Risotto with any local seafood you feel like.

Schlossgut Diel Diel de Diel 2020 Nahe, Germany
We are finding more and more wines from Germany that just hit that perfect note. This white blend from the Nahe is made from Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Riesling. Ripe melon, and citrus make way for traditional riesling aromatics and mouthfeel. Has a slight effervescent pop to make you remember your thirst needs quenching. Food Pairing - Don't get crazy; grill some sausage outside and grab sides.

Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon La Voûte Saint-Vincent 2021 Beaujolais, France
Beaujolais every day may become our new motto, since every month we manage to sneak one into the wine club. This famous estate, now run by brother and sister, is producing the best wine it has in generations. This cuvée is a blend of different parcels across Morgon. Semi-Carbonic maceration that is done whole cluster produces an intense but still fruit driven wine. Great Morgon is an amazing thing as you can drink it out in the field reading a book or at dinner. Food Pairing - Steak Tartare & crusty bread

Domaine Frédéric Mabileau Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil Les Rouillères 2021 Loire Valley, France
The Loire Valley has a plethora of small villages and young vignerons it seems who always deliver on great quality and low priced cuvees. Saint-Nicolas Bourgueil is one of those villages and sits on the right bank of the Loire river, across from its famous neighbor Chinon. This 100% Cabernet Franc from the village undergoes a soft press and extraction with zero oak usage. Dark fruit with an underlying ripe strawberry flavor lines your palate. Utterly Charming. Food Pairing - True bistro reds pair with anything. Just braise some meat.

Château Combel-la-Serre Le Pur Fruit du Causse 2021 Cahors, France
Say it with me now: Malbec is not from Argentina! The variety originated in southwest France in the village of Cahors. Malbec has a much different feel in southwest France as it normally operates under 14% alcohol and has a depth of fruit that stands out without the higher alcohol. Combel La Serre is one of our favorite producers run by a husband and wife team (along with their kids!). This cuvee is meant for crisp nights while cooking outdoors! Food Pairing - Cassoulet! or Rabbit Paella (you certainly read that correctly)

Master Pack

Champagne Piollot Cuvée de Réserve NV Aube, France
Change is inevitable but in regions like champagne, it happens very slowly. As the younger generation moves into the driver seat though we are seeing a new wave of biodynamic producers who want to make lower dosage wines. Roland Piollot continues to make this beautiful style as an homage to his father. Instead of single varietal, he uses both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and a decent dosage. This creamier style is classic but produced by a grower who is in love with the racy brut nature style. This combination makes for something amazing. Food Pairing - Moules Frites.

Foradori "Sgarzon" Teroldego 2020 Dolomites, Italy
Elisabetta Foradori is an icon when it comes to wines from the dolomites and native varieties. She is also one of the most famous natural winemakers in Italy. Teroldego makes up a large portion of her production and she shows the ranges of this variety through different techniques and ageing. This cuvee is aged underground in amphora and from a single vineyard at elevation. Dark black fruit collides with soft textural edges and developed tannins. This wine screams fall in the mountains and deserves the attention that is heaped upon it. Food Pairing - Lamb, Braised Meats of all shapes and sizes.
