About this bottle

Wine Type: Red
Vintage: 2021
Bottle Size: 750ml
Grape Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Appellation: Napa Valley AVA
Country: United States
Region: California (Napa Valley)
Producer: Heitz Cellar
Winemaker: Heitz Cellar team
Vineyard: Napa Valley sources (multiple sites; not a single-vineyard bottling)
Soil: Varied Napa Valley benchland + valley floor influences
Farming: Sustainable, quality-focused vineyard partners + estate work
Alcohol: 14.5% (varies)
Fermentation: Traditional Cabernet vinification with measured extraction
Aging: Primarily neutral/older oak (with some newer oak for structure), built for balance and age-worthiness

Tasting Note:
Heitz Cab 2021 is classic Napa in a more restrained, “old-school” register: dark cassis and black cherry, graphite, dried bay leaf, and a little cedar, with tannins that feel firm and architectural rather than plush. The fruit is ripe, but it doesn’t read jammy, and there’s a savory, stony edge that keeps the finish dry and serious. Give it air and it gets more expressive, with that signature Cabernet lift of violets and pencil shavings. This is a steak-night bottle, but it’s also a cellar bottle—one you can drink now with a decant, or forget about for a few years and feel very smart later.

About the Producer:
Heitz Cellar is one of Napa’s benchmark legacy names, known for Cabernet that prioritizes structure, freshness, and longevity over sheer sweetness or oak gloss. Even the Napa Valley bottling carries that house signature: balanced ripeness, savory complexity, and a clear “built to age” posture.
