Macurichos Tepeztate Joven offers a powerful and aromatic expression of one of Oaxaca’s most prized and slow-maturing agaves. Grown wild on rocky hillsides and harvested after 20–25 years, Tepeztate imparts mezcal with a singular intensity. The nose reveals a rush of green herbs, jalapeño, and wildflowers layered with earthy minerality. On the palate, it unfolds with roasted agave sweetness balanced by notes of wet stone, citrus peel, black pepper, and a touch of smoke. The finish is long, vibrant, and textured, carrying both freshness and depth—hallmarks of this extraordinary agave.

About the Producer:
Mezcal Macurichos is a family-run project led by maestro mezcalero Arturo Martínez in San Dionisio Ocotepec, Oaxaca. Rooted in generational knowledge, the brand is known for working with diverse agave species—often wild or semi-cultivated—and producing small, transparent batches. Each mezcal is crafted with traditional methods: pit-roasting agave with mesquite and encino wood, stone tahona milling, open-air wooden vat fermentation, and double distillation in copper alembics. Macurichos highlights the biodiversity of Oaxaca’s agaves while maintaining sustainable practices and deep ties to community and land.
