Tasting Note:
Pale in the glass but full of character, “Ottavio” brings together tart cherry, fresh red berries, blood orange, and a pleasantly bitter herbal edge. The palate is lively and refreshing, with a rustic, savory character that keeps the fruit from feeling simple. This is a lighter red with personality, particularly good alongside food. Serve slightly cool with mushroom pasta, roast chicken, or a plate of good bread, salumi, and aged cheese.

About the Producer:
Nadia Verrua runs Cascina Tavijn in Scurzolengo, where her family has farmed since 1908. Working organically, she champions Monferrato’s local grapes, particularly Barbera, Grignolino, and Ruché, with spontaneous fermentations and minimal cellar intervention. “68” is a family tribute: sei, Italian for six, nods to her uncle Sisto, while otto, eight, references her father Ottavio. Their faces share the yellow hat on the label, illustrated by family friend Gianluca Cannizzo.
