Tasting Notes:
Madre Mezcal Joven Ancestral is a rare, small-batch mezcal crafted using the most traditional, labor-intensive methods preserved for generations. Made from a blend of Agave angustifolia (Espadín) and Agave potatorum (Tobala), it presents layered aromas of roasted agave, wildflowers, tropical fruit, and gentle campfire smoke. The palate is rich yet balanced, showing notes of honey, mango, citrus zest, cacao, and a hint of black pepper. The texture is silky and mouth-coating, leading to a long, elegant finish with complex earthy-mineral undertones.

About the Producer:
Madre Mezcal partners with small, family-run palenques in Oaxaca to create authentic, additive-free mezcals. The Ancestral expression is produced entirely by hand in San Dionisio Ocotepec, with agave cooked in earthen pits, milled using wooden mallets, naturally fermented in open-air wooden vats, and distilled in clay pot stills. By using ancestral methods, Madre captures the depth, soul, and wild beauty of Oaxacan mezcal traditions in an expression meant for sipping and contemplation.
