Tasting Note:
Château de Chaintres’ “Les Sables” is a beautifully expressive Cabernet Franc that highlights the lighter, more aromatic side of Saumur-Champigny. Juicy raspberry, red cherry, wild strawberry, violet, and subtle notes of graphite and fresh herbs lead into a supple, medium-light-bodied palate. Sandy soils lend elegance and delicate tannins, while bright acidity and a savory mineral edge keep the wine lively and refreshing. A wonderfully versatile Loire red, equally enjoyable with a slight chill or alongside a good meal.

About the Producer:
Château de Chaintres is a historic family estate in Dampierre-sur-Loire, with winemaking roots dating back to 1675. The domaine is centered around a remarkable 17th-century walled vineyard, one of the few remaining clos in Saumur-Champigny. The estate has been farmed organically since the early 2000s and is certified biodynamic, emphasizing biodiversity, healthy soils, and minimal intervention. Working primarily with Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, Château de Chaintres produces wines that balance the limestone-driven structure of Saumur with freshness, elegance, and a strong sense of place. “Les Sables” showcases the softer, more approachable side of Cabernet Franc grown on the region’s sandy soils.
