Tasting Note:
Eduardo Torres Acosta’s 2024 “Versante Est” is a beautifully expressive Etna white that captures the freshness and mineral energy of Sicily’s volcanic slopes. Lemon zest, green apple, white peach, grapefruit, wild herbs, and delicate white flowers lead into a textured, energetic palate. Bright acidity and a distinctive saline character balance the wine’s subtle richness, while notes of crushed volcanic stone and citrus peel linger through a long, savory finish. Precise and refreshing, with the structure and depth to reward time in the glass.
About the Producer:
Eduardo Torres Acosta is a Canary Islands-born winemaker who moved to Sicily in 2012, drawn to the extraordinary volcanic vineyards of Mount Etna. After working with Arianna Occhipinti and later gaining experience with some of Etna’s most respected growers, he established his own project focused on old vines, indigenous varieties, and traditional vineyard practices. Farming organically and working with native fermentations and minimal intervention, Eduardo produces wines that emphasize freshness, mineral complexity, and the distinctive character of Etna’s volcanic terroir. “Versante Est” showcases the elegant, saline expression of Carricante grown on the mountain’s eastern slopes.
