Tasting Note:
Famille Godon’s “Les Chapotons” balances Sancerre’s citrus freshness with a generous, silky texture. Grapefruit, delicate floral notes, and a flinty edge lead into a rounded palate, with bright acidity keeping the fruit lively and focused. Fresh without feeling austere, this is a versatile Sauvignon Blanc with enough substance for the dinner table. Pair it with baked fish, salmon in puff pastry, or warm goat cheese on toast.
About the Producer:
Brothers Franck and Sylvain Godon run a small family domaine in Menetou-Râtel, with vineyard parcels extending into Saint-Satur and Chavignol. Earlier generations sold their grapes to other producers; the brothers began making and exporting wine under the family name, with Franck leading the winemaking. Their vineyards are organically farmed, while the family’s broader agricultural operation, La Ferme des Chapotons, also produces Crottin de Chavignol. Wine and goat cheese from the same family make for a particularly fitting introduction to Sancerre.
