Tasting Note:
Oltretorrente’s 2024 Derthona is a beautifully expressive Timorasso that combines richness, freshness, and the distinctive mineral character of the Colli Tortonesi. Ripe pear, yellow apple, preserved lemon, white peach, chamomile, and wild herbs unfold across a textured, medium-bodied palate. Bright acidity and a subtle saline edge balance the wine’s generous fruit, while notes of almond and crushed stone linger through a long, savory finish. A serious, food-friendly white with the structure to develop beautifully in bottle.
About the Producer:
Oltretorrente is the small, family-run estate of Chiara Penati and Michele Coniglio, established in 2010 in Paderna, in southeastern Piedmont. The couple farms organically, working with old vines and traditional local varieties, including Timorasso, Barbera, Dolcetto, and Cortese. Their approach emphasizes biodiversity, indigenous fermentations, and minimal intervention, producing wines that reflect the distinctive limestone-rich hills of the Colli Tortonesi. Their Derthona showcases Timorasso’s remarkable ability to combine texture, mineral precision, and long aging potential.
