Tasting Note:
Matassa’s “Tommy Ferriol” is a lively, expressive Roussillon red that favors freshness and energy over weight. Wild strawberry, raspberry, red cherry, violet, cracked pepper, and Mediterranean herbs lead into a juicy, lightly structured palate. Bright acidity and gentle tannins keep the wine refreshing, while subtle earthy and mineral notes add savory complexity. An inviting, low-intervention red that is particularly enjoyable with a slight chill.

About the Producer:
Domaine Matassa was founded in 2003 by South African-born winemaker Tom Lubbe in Calce, Roussillon. One of southern France’s most influential natural-wine producers, Lubbe champions organic and biodynamic farming, old vines, indigenous fermentations, and minimal sulfur. His wines challenge the region’s traditionally powerful, high-alcohol style, instead emphasizing freshness, aromatic complexity, and a clear expression of place. “Tommy Ferriol” reflects that philosophy, offering a vibrant, approachable expression of Roussillon’s Mediterranean landscape.
